California Friendly Landscaping

California Friendly Landscaping

Saving more in water waste does not mean a less beautiful landscape. Ask our experts how.

California Friendly Landscaping Oxnard CA

Are you looking to give your garden a makeover? California friendly does not only mean just rocks and cactus with artificial turf anymore. Southern California landscapes and climates vary greatly. This allows for growth of a remarkably large selection of low water use plantings from over the world. With the rise of water costs in our state and with new fines in place for water waste, our goal at Landscaping Oxnard is to convert the water waste turf areas to a more water friendly area. Saving water does not mean you have to sacrifice your landscape of its beautiful scenery.

Since Landscaping Oxnard is based in California there are different tips methods that we apply for gardens in California. We would like to explain to our customers which landscaping designs, irrigation methods and equipment will help you to water and maintain your garden in the easiest and most effective way possible.

Additionally, you might even want to consider looking into xeriscaping. Xeriscaping is a certain way of drought-tolerant landscaping that reduces or even eliminates the need for water from irrigation.

Advantages of Xeriscaping Are:
  • Reducing overall garden maintenance
  • Reduces water usage of 60% or more.
  • Reducing maintenance costs
  • Reducing both fertilizer use, waste, and pollution.
  • Xeriscape plants in combination with a fully utilized design including mulching and soil grading will result in better water absorption.

There are a few other valuable tips we would like to share with our customers which could be quite beneficial when done correctly:

Landscaping Tips:
After lawn mowing, make sure to leave the little grass clippings on your lawn. This will help your lawn and soil as the nutrients and organic matter from the little grass clippings will be returned to the soil, feeding your freshly mowed lawn.

Wildlife Tips:
A combination of Mulch and natural stone will keep and protect wildlife in your beloved garden.

Water Saving Tips:
  • Do not install Irrigation systems in areas where you don’t want weeds to grow. This will save you some serious time, as we all know how much of a pain weeding can be.
  • Use an automated irrigation system or adjust the sprinklers manually to avoid overwatering paths and driveways.
  • Install a Rainstat that will shut down the irrigation system once it starts to rain to save on water.
  • Use compost 6” into your garden’s soil to retain water to nurture your plants.
  • Grass uses the most water out of all your plants on your property.

Plants & Fauna Tips:
Landscaping Oxnard can advise you on the best trees, plants and flower best suited to California’s climate to make your own drought-tolerant garden.
This even includes advising on how to attract certain insects to your garden or even small wildlife such as the hummingbird. We are aware of the different soils which could cause some problems with certain vegetation but due to our experience we can help you find the best one that suits your preferences.

Perhaps you are looking for a or multiple low water trees, such as the Allepo Pine, the Big Bend Yucca or the lovely Blue Hesper Palm?  You might even consider the Baines Tree Aloe or the majestic Queen Palm. Maybe you want to add some color to your garden and are looking into the Rosea Eucalyptus or even better, the Pink Melaleuca. Maybe you’re considering something smaller, a nice shrub perhaps? Depending on the preferred color choice you might look into the Autumn Joy Sedum or the playful Baja Fairy Duster. Maybe you want to kick it down a notch and go the Pacific Wax Myrtle or Pencilbush? You could also be looking for some native California plants such as the Aromas Sage, the Apache Plume or the beautiful Baby Blue Eyes.

As you can see there is a wide variety of trees, shrubs, vines and grasses available. Feel free to get in touch with us and we’re happy to advise and help you create the garden you are dreaming of.
